International Foundation for Science (IFS): Individual Research Grants

The International Foundation for Science (IFS) calls for applications from early-career scientists in the developing world for research in any of the themes of sustainable management of natural resources; water and aquatic resources; and food production, food security, and nutrition.
Applicants must be attached to a national research institute in an eligible developing country, and they must meet the IFS criteria on age and educational level. Grants are up to US$12 thousand for projects of 1-3 years.
IFS gives complete guidance on how to apply for a grant. Guidelines are available in English and French; applications need to be submitted in English. The deadline for applications is 27 January 2013. Link

RUFORUM -- Field Attachment Program

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) supports a Field Attachment Program (FAPA).
FAPA offers competitive grants to link thesis research to practical applications and use at the community level. FAPA is exclusively targeted to RUFORUM-supported MSc students who are in the process of finalizing their degrees.

African Network of Scientific and Technical Institutions (ANSTI): ANSTI/DAAD Post-Graduate Fellowships 2013

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) cooperates with the African Network of Scientific and Technical Institutions (ANSTI) by offering the ANSTI-DAAD Post-Graduate Fellowships. The fellowhships provide financial support for Masters and Ph.D degrees at institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The fellowships are awarded to nationals in Sub-Saharan Africa for studies outside the applicants' home countries. Participants must be from ANSTI member institutions, and be less than 36 years old at the time of application. The application deadline is 31 May 2013.
