Position : ACADEMIC STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT - Faculty of Agriculture
Job Description
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualifi ed candidates to be considered for the following academic vacancies in various academic departments under the Faculty of Agriculture. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching, research, consultancy and community engagement within their respective fi elds of expertise.
i. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Animal Health and Welfare
Qualifications
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine or any closely related fi eld obtained from
a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Veterinary Medicine or any closely
related fi eld for a Lecturer and above.
ii. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Anatomy and Physiology
Qualifi cations
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine with a major in Anatomy and Physiology obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine for a Lecturer and above.
iii. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Environmental Engineering
Qualifi cations
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or any closely related fi eld obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Environmental Engineering or any closely related fi eld for a Lecturer and above.
iv. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Agricultural Engineering
Qualifi cations
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering or any closely related fi eld obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Agricultural Engineering or any closely related fi eld for a Lecturer and above.
v. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Food Processing Engineering
Qualifi cations
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Food Processing Engineering or Food Technology or any closely related fi eld obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Food Processing Engineering or any closely related fi eld for a Lecturer and above.
vi. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Plant Pathology
Qualifi cations
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Plant Pathology specializing in Plant Virology and Nematology or any closely related fi eld obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Plant Pathology, specializing in Plant Virology and Nematology or any closely related fi eld for a
Lecturer and above.
vii. Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer/ Staff Associate in Biotechnology and Biosafety
Qualifi cations
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biosafety, Molecular Biology or any closely related field obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Biotechnology, Biosafety, Molecular Biology or any closely related fi eld for a Lecturer and above.
Requirements
- All candidates and those applying for Staff Associate positions must have a fi rst degree in any closely related fi eld with at least a CREDIT from a reputable University.
• Candidates who are concluding their Master’s degree training must indicate progress towards the conclusion of the degree and the probable dates of completion.
• Candidates interested in teaching Animal Health and Welfare must be practicing and registered Veterinarians with more than three (3) years of experience.
• Those with an MSc in Animal Science must have background qualifi cations in Veterinary Science.
• Candidate interested in teaching Anatomy and Physiology must have strong knowledge of Small and Large Anatomy and Physiology.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience, preferably teaching at the University level or developing curricula in related fi elds.
• Candidates applying for the post of Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Professor must show proof of publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals.
