The Department of Animal Science shall enroll and graduate at least 80 students at each programme cycle to its BSc in Animal Science. The BSc in Animal Science shall require students to do a research project as a partial fulfilment requirement for the award of a degree. Students and their supervisors shall be encouraged to publish their research work, make discoveries and innovations and patent them. Students with a minimum C “A” level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology will enter in 2nd Year.
Diploma Holders or Mature Entry
Entry level for candidates with diplomas shall depend on the discipline of study. Candidates with diplomas without the basic sciences (Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Physics) will join in first year as long as they satisfy conditions stipulated for MSCE and GCE holders. A candidate with a diploma that had basic sciences that is not animal production and health or veterinary science or not related to animal science or veterinary science may enter in second year if the candidate has a strong pass with a cGPA of 2.5 or greater. In addition, the diploma should have the required basic science modules of Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Physics and the candidate must have worked for 2 years in a relevant industry. If the candidate does not satisfy these conditions, then requirements stipulated for MSCE and GCE holders will apply. Candidates with diploma in animal production and health or veterinary science will be assessed based on their performance and modules covered and passed as shown on the transcript.
