About Mr Yonah MNDHULI

Yonah Mndhuli serves as a Technician in Environmental Sciences within the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Management at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). In this role, he supports undergraduate practical sessions, facilitates departmental research activities, and contributes to consultancy assignments. His technical portfolio encompasses environmental sampling, laboratory analysis, and field monitoring, with specific responsibilities including the operation of analytical equipment, implementation of quality assurance protocols, and coordination of field data collection. He also participates in departmental outreach initiatives, engaging with local institutions and communities on environmental monitoring and awareness. Prior to joining LUANAR, Mr. Mndhuli accumulated over four years of professional experience in environmental compliance and monitoring across infrastructure projects in Malawi. He has provided technical support to World Bank-funded infrastructure projects, German Embassy-funded development initiatives, and the IFAD-funded TRADE (Transforming Agriculture through Diversification and Entrepreneurship) programme. His contributions to these projects included environmental sampling, site inspections, and baseline data collection. He has also contributed to feasibility studies for sustainable infrastructure development, undertaking environmental assessments and GIS-based spatial analysis. His background further includes laboratory quality control. Mr. Mndhuli's professional practice is guided by a central question: how can agricultural practices meet community needs without degrading the environment? His work focuses on utilizing water, soil, and air quality data to assess whether farming activities contribute to pollution. Where evidence indicates negative environmental impacts, he is committed to recommending alternative practices that support both agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability.
