About Mr Willie MTHOLOLA

Willie Lester Ntholola is currently serving as a Quality Assurance Officer at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Bunda Campus in Lilongwe, Malawi, a position he assumed in January 2026. In this role, he supports the development and implementation of institutional quality assurance policies, facilitates programme accreditation processes, monitors compliance with academic standards, and contributes to data-driven decision-making aimed at strengthening the quality of higher education. Prior to joining LUANAR, Mr. Ntholola served for over 16 years at St. John’s Catholic Secondary School in Lilongwe where he held several leadership positions from 2009 to 2025. From January 2015 to December 2025, he served as Head of the Science Department and Examination Coordinator, providing strategic leadership to the department, supervising and mentoring teachers, coordinating curriculum implementation, managing internal and external examinations, and ensuring compliance with national education standards set by the Ministry of Education (Malawi). During this period, he also led academic quality monitoring, coordinated professional development workshops for teachers, prepared departmental academic reports, and facilitated effective engagement with parents, teachers, and education authorities. Earlier, from January 2009 to January 2015, he served as Senior Teacher and Examination Coordinator at the same institution where he taught Science and Mathematics, supported curriculum development and instructional planning, coordinated school academic activities, and played an important role in student discipline, welfare, and academic administration. He also served as a key liaison between the school and the surrounding community. Mr. Ntholola began his teaching career with the Government of Malawi under the Ministry of Education (Malawi) at Biwi Community Day Secondary School in Lilongwe, where he taught Mathematics and Physical Science and served as Head of the Science Department. Beyond his institutional responsibilities, Mr. Ntholola has contributed to national education development initiatives through curriculum review for secondary education and text books evaluation coordinated by the Malawi Institute of Education. He has also been involved in training secondary school teachers in Science and Mathematics through the Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA), supporting efforts to strengthen teaching capacity and improve curriculum implementation in secondary schools across Malawi. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Malawi School of Government and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mzuzu University. He has also completed professional training in Project Management and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), strengthening his expertise in education management, programme implementation, and institutional quality assurance.
