About Mr CHIUMIA Daniel

Dr. Daniel Chiumia is a livestock expert with specialisation in dairy cattle production and animal physiology with more than 12 years of practical experience. He is a senior lecturer in Dairy Science and Technology at Lilongwe University of Agricultural and Natural Resources (LUANAR) and he holds a doctorate degree from ETH Zurich. He is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer for an AgriTech startup Chiweto (www.chiweto.ch), providers of innovative inclusive digital solutions for smallholder farmers in Malawi, Rwanda, and Tanzania.
Daniel has a broad research experience in research and consultancies in livestock sector having completed various work for World Bank, Swiss Government, Royal Kingdom of Norway, Global Center for Food Systems Innovation, African Development Bank Group, The Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), Civil Society Network (CISANET), Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC), Department of Agricultural Research Services (DARS), Heifer International Malawi and World Vision Malawi International, just to mention a few. He is also a reviewer of Cogent Food & Agriculture, a multidisciplinary open access journal, publishing scientifically sound peer-reviewed research, including replication studies, in food, nutrition, veterinary and agricultural sciences. As an entrepreneur he holds a certificate in business concept development from Commission for Technology and Innovation Entrepreneurship in Switzerland, and a certificate in Entrepreneurship from Bocconi University
