About Mr Daniel CHIUMIA

Daniel Chiumia is a senior lecturer in Dairy Science and Technology at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). He also coordinates Business Incubation and Innovations initiatives at the Centre of Excellence in Transformative Agriculture Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship (TACE), and serves as the coordinator for the Falling Walls Lab Lilongwe at LUANAR as well. Daniel obtained his doctorate from ETH Zurich in Switzerland. He is the founder and CEO of Chiweto LTD, an AgriTech startup that provides innovative and inclusive digital solutions to farmers in Malawi. As an entrepreneur, Daniel earned a certificate in business concept development from Switzerland’s Commission for Technology and Innovation Entrepreneurship and a certificate in entrepreneurship from Bocconi University. Daniel is a distinguished scientist with extensive research expertise in the agriculture sector especially in the livestock sub-sector. He has successfully executed projects for prominent organisations, including the World Bank, FAO, the Swiss Government, the Royal Kingdom of Norway, the African Development Bank Group, Scotland’s Rural College, and various civil society networks such as CISANET and CISONECC, among others. Daniel also contributes as a reviewer for Cogent Food & Agriculture, a respected peer-reviewed journal covering food, nutrition, veterinary, and agricultural sciences. His scholarly work is well-documented and accessible through his Google Scholar profile.
