About Mr Patrick Chimseu

A pro-active Economist and Policy Researcher, currently serving as a Research Fellow at CARD LUANAR, PhD student in Agricultural and Resource Economics at LUANAR and teaching Statistical Packages for Social Economic Analysis. I hold a Masters in Agricultural and Applied Economics under the Collaborative Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics in Africa (CMAAE) from LUANAR and University of Pretoria, a BSc. In Agribusiness Management, I also hold Postgraduate Certificates in Behavioral Economics and Property Rights, Tenure Reform Markets & Social welfare from NMBU and LUANAR and Certificates from Perdue University in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Subject Protections. I have diverse skills in data management and analysis using Stata, Python, R programming, Excel, ArcGIS, Survey solution, Mwater, Kobo collect, SurveyCTO, NVivo, and ATLAS.ti. I have been involved in different research projects by different institutions including LUANAR, MUST, National Commission of Science and Technology, Michigan State University, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), Purdue University, Food and Agricultural Organization, The World Bank, National Bank of Malawi and World Food Program among others. I am in the National Task Force working with the Ministry of Agriculture, COMESA and FAO on Compilation and Updating the Malawi Food Balance Sheets (FBS) and I have also served and participated in Ministry of Agriculture Technical Working Group on Implementation and Upscaling of Insurance in Malawi, Ministry of Trade and Industry policy programing on Development of Model Cluster in Malawi, Drafting of MSMES Bill and I have also done University consultancy work for public and private Organizations. I am a member of the Economics Association of Malawi and my current research interest is in Behavioral Economics and application of AI, Structural Equation Models (Latent Class Analysis), probability theory and stochastic processes in rural development.
