About Dr PANGAPANGA-PHIRI Innocent

Innocent is a Director and a Senior Economist for the Centre of Agricultural Research and Development (CARD) based at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). He leads data driven research translation and policy influence thematic area on agrifood systems, value chain and market systems development, rural development, climate change, disaster risk management, environment, and natural resource management. Before joining the University, Innocent worked in Government for over half a decade in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, the National Statistics Office (NSO), and the National Statistical System (NSS). Besides, Innocent has worked as a Policy Economist for the World Bank, ICRAF, and IFPRI, as well as consulting for the UNDP, IITA, CIMMYT, IFPRI, CIFOR, and CIRAD. He is a Resource Economics Fellow for collaborative international research work with the University of Copenhagen, Stellenbosch, and Wits. Innocent is also a fellow for Advanced Panel Data Econometric Analytics with the University of Brocks through the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
