LAND
I research on land issues from a Political Economy lenses. my past projects have focused on land ownership and currently my research is on land markets and how these alter social relations in agrarian communities. I have also look at the impact of agrarian transformation such as commercialisation on land commodification, consolidation and expropriation.
Gender
My focus is on social differentiation based on gender, the gendered nature of agrarian transformation and processes, gender inequalities including that of the youth. I also focus on social reproduction aspects. I use feminist and intersectionality theoretical lenses to research gender.
climate change
I also take a political economy and political ecology lenses to understand the differentiated impacts of climate change. My current research is on understanding governance of climate induced displacement and also on carbon trading in the name of decarbonisation from a just transition perspective.
Livelihoods
I research on livelihoods using sustainable livelihoods approaches from a political economy perspective. Understanding livelihood changes and trajectories from different agrarian activities.
