The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) through the Department of Agribusiness Management (ABM) is the only higher education institution in Malawi offering long term training in cooperative and microfinance related studies. The Agribusiness Management (ABM) Departments is one of the Departments in the Faculty of Development Studies of Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR).
The Department, whose core activities are teaching, research, consultancy and outreach was established in 2002. The vision of the Department is to be a centre of excellence in providing knowledge and practical skills in agribusiness management for increased self-reliance and job creation.
Its mission is to advance and promote knowledge and practical skills in agribusiness management through teaching, training, research, outreach and consultancies with integrity, diligence and impartiality in response to national and international needs.
We have extensive experience in training and research as well as providing business development services for farmers, farmer organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations and the Government. The department has a team of 11 faculty, and two support personnel.
