About

I knew LUANAR through African intra mobility scheme (share capacity) sponsored by EU when I enrolled for MSc in aquaculture in 2013. After successful completion, I also applied for PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries. I have chosen this programme because it’s very important programme which improve food security, protein availability in quality and quantity especially in Africa where protein consumption and accessibility is very low due to low income of the population

Elysee Nzohabnayo is a Burundian PhD student studying a PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science. His research area is Fish Breeding. Upon completion the research is expected to have a significant impact for the farmers as his target is to produce all male offspring or high proportion of males through hybridization, produce hybrid vigour which grow faster and improve reproductive performance of oreochromis species available in Malawi. Males of Tilapia grow faster than female, that’s why farmers need to culture monosex to increase fish production For leisure, he likes watching football games.
