About Dr KAMWANA Bonet

Bonet holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Management from The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2017), a Master of Science Degree in Food and Resources Economics from University of Florida (2010) and a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from University of Malawi (2001). He is a specialist in food and resource economics, agribusiness risk management, accounting and finance. Bonet has been involved in research at farm household and market levels including livelihood improvement, impact evaluations, agricultural enterprise income and profitability assessments and technology adoption.
Bonet also has two years’ experience of practical accounting and financial management with extensive skills in accounting and statistical packages. He once worked in the Finance Department at University of Malawi’s Chancellor College from 2001 to 2003 as Assistant Finance Officer.
Bonet was attached to Makerere University (Uganda) under the young professionals Exchange Programme for Fredskorpset (FK) Norway’s South-South Agribusiness Forum Exchange Network for one year from January 2012 to December 2012 where he taught Business Statistics and also worked with farmers and farmer cooperatives on Enterprise Profitability Analysis and Technology Adoption. He has held a number of positions in the University. He is the current Head of Department. He also served as the Postgraduate Coordinator and Deputy Head of Department (January 2018 – December 2020). He also once serves as Department Research Projects Coordinator (2013 – 2014) and Department Representative on ICT Committee (2013 – 2014).
He teaches Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Finance, Business Mathematics, Business Law, Computer Applications and Performance Management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
