The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2016/2017 academic year commencing in March, 2017 and the 2017/2018 academic year commencing in October, 2017.
PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FOR INTERESTED APPLICANTS
A. Minimum generic entry requirements for admissions into PhD programmes
• A relevant Master’s Degree obtained from an institution of higher learning recognized
by the National Council for Higher Education.
• Candidate should also demonstrate ability to conduct independent research by providing at least one example of a scientific publication in print or electronic format as well as a description of any published or unpublished research, thesis, contributions to professional or scholarly literature, and other professional or academic experiences relevant to an assessment of the candidates capacity to pursue doctoral studies successfully.
• A brief curriculum vitae containing an overview of education, work, publications, and other professional activities as well as at least three references from professional and/or academic circles;
• Where necessary, candidates will also be required to take oral and/or written examinations in their major and minor fields to determine overall preparation and background to cope up with their desired programme.
Minimum generic entry requirements for admissions into MSc. and Postgraduate Diploma programmes
• A relevant Bachelor of Science Degree obtained from an institution recognised by NCHE.
• A credit pass/cGPA of at least 3.0 or equivalent. Candidates with a mere pass/cGPA of not less than 2.60 or equivalent but with vast relevant work experience may also be considered.
• A brief curriculum vitae containing an overview of education, work, publications, and other professional activities as well as at least three references from professional and/or academic circles;
• Where necessary, candidates will also be required to take oral and/or written examinations in their major and minor fields to determine overall preparation and background to cope up with their desired programme.
b. Conditional Offers: Candidates assessment for admission will be based on the academic transcripts provided and emphasis will be placed on the courses the candidate has already covered, and if such courses/their grades are found to be insufficient for admission to the desired programme, the candidate will be required to take some enhancing courses from the existing course-based MSc. or course-based PhD programs before commencement of, or during their postgraduate studies in LUANAR.
c. Further requirements: Candidates must also meet the specific entry requirements for each faculty/programme as outlined under Section 2 of this call for applications and Section Q - programme details section of PGDMP-2016/2017 or PGDMP-2017/2018 application form.
