Students like these will benefit from the initiative

Capacity Building for Managing Climate Change (CABMACC) programme has set aside funds to support research projects by undergraduate and postgraduate students at LUANAR.

According to an internal release from the Programmes Coordinating Office, the research to be supported should address any theme that is dealing with climate change related problems.

“The aim of the research grants is to strengthen the research capacity of LUANAR students and also act as a vehicle for enhancing innovativeness among LUANAR students,” reads the letter.

In an interview, the Programmes Coordinator, Dr David Mkwambisi said the value of the grants is 1500 USD (about 1,013,280 MK) for undergraduate students and 3000 USD (about 2,026, 560 MK) for postgraduate students.

“To access the funds, proposals have to be presented and approved at department level. Selected proposals will then be submitted to the Director of Research and Outreach where a committee shall be constituted to identify the best proposals,” said Dr Mkwambisi.
He further said the programme anticipates funding over ten research projects during the 2016/2017 academic year.

CABMACC is a five-year programme funded by the Royal Kingdom of Norway at the tune of NOK 60 Million to strengthen the training, research and outreach in climate change adaptation and mitigation by LUANAR.
