Vacancy Announcement

Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) was established by an Act of Parliament No. 22 of 2011, by delinking Bunda College of Agriculture from The University of Malawi.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following academic position tenable at the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at LUANAR Bunda Campus.


1. Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate professor/Professor in Biometry
(1 position)
2. Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate professor/Professor in Agronomy (1 Position)
3. Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate professor/Professor in Pasture Agronomy (1 Position)
4. Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate professor/Professor in Plant Breeding (1 Position)
5. Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate professor/Professor Pathology
(2 Positions)

Qualifications
The prospective candidates should be in possession of an appropriate professional degree such as doctorate and masters (with course work). Exceptional candidates with Bachelor of Science degree in relevant fields will be considered for the Staff Associates. The candidates for the Lecturer position and above will be required to demonstrate teaching ability and should have a developing record of scholarly publications or dissemination of scholarly work in peer reviewed forums and professional achievement in an area of expertise related to the subject area.
Applicants for the senior lecturer position and above should demonstrate a strong vision for building collaborative teams and working across disciplines as well as leadership ability.

Duties for these academic positions are as follows:-
• Teaching courses both at undergraduate and post graduate levels
• Advising undergraduate students and supervising graduate students in thesis research projects
• Taking active role in academic activities and committees as may be assigned from time to time.
• Establishing a strong externally funded research program in related to area of expertise.
• Developing an outreach program related the area of expertise
