Faculty of Food and Human Sciences on Wednesday 12th January 2016 awarded 31 students for their outstanding performance in their respective programmes.

Speaking of the event, Dean for the faculty, Dr Agness Mwangwela said her faculty decided to award the outstanding students as one way of motivating them.

She said that the Faculty recognises the fact that competition among students would encourage them to work hard.

She further said the awards were based on annual GPA of more than 3.0 hence best three in each year of study were awarded.

Dr Mwangwela said as a Faculty they take this as an investment and uses funds generated within their faculty through various projects and initiatives.

“It’s good to acknowledge students who have performed well as it encourages them to work hard,” said Dr Mwangwela.

LUANAR Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda who graced the function hailed the Faculty for organising the awards saying management is impressed with its various innovations.

Professor Kaunda advised the awardees to continue working hard in their studies so that they continue performing well.

He also encouraged students from the Faculty who were there to witness the event that they should emulate from their friends to work hard so that they should be awarded in future.

“Paper (certificate) is nothing but what you have done is what matters so try your best to expertise in your areas of study,” said Professor Kaunda.

One of the awardees, Felistance Mtande who was also recently awarded during National Bank awards , thanked the Faculty for the initiative saying it was a great motivation to her as well as to others.


The awardees who got cash prizes ranging from MK 20, 000 to MK 50,000 were Patrick Singoyi, Stella Madiwati, Phillip Moyo, Lynos Maloya, Deliwe Timbani, Yoghater Chakaka, Limbikira Mwansambo, Alaska Kamanga, Hazviel Mang'anda, Joseph Mwambemba, Imran Kamwana, Essau Hinjes, Ipyana Munthali, Dorothy Thamanga, Pius Mvenya, Felistance Mtande, Ganizani Masauko, Frank Kayange, Gareth Osman, Msaiwale Kathewera, Ellen Sondo, Garbet Thyangathyanga, Elizabeth Mnenula, Jimu Scholastica, Chimwemwe Ketulo, Annie Dongolosi, Isaac Lakudzala, Chilungamo Phiri, Dickson Kakoma, Given Kazembe and Alice Chandilanga.
